Volunteer

Volunteers are vital to ELMACON, without them, it literally would not exist!

If you would like to volunteer, we are looking for volunteers for marking, proctoring and general organization and would gladly welcome you. The responsibilities of these roles are...

  • Marking: Markers will work in teams to grade the papers as they come in. Some familiarity with spreadsheets would be a bonus. A short training session will be given on the morning of the competition to teach the marking procedures. Marking typically takes place from late morning to early afternoon.PLEASE NOTE: If you have a family member or relative competing in ELMACON, you may not participate in marking. We also ask that markers be at least 16 years of age.
  • Proctoring: Proctors supervise the exams in progress. They make sure that the students behave appropriately during the exams. Proctoring typically takes places during the morning.
  • General: There are LOTS of other tasks that need to be taken care of to make Elmacon run smoothly, e.g. organizing snacks, directing parents etc. These tasks take place throughout the entire day.

The form below asks you to indicate your preference(s) in these three areas, but it is possible that on the day of ELMACON you may be asked to help with another task. You will be contacted by email during the final organizational stages of ELMACON to give you details of your assignments.
