Virtual Sessions
We will be unable to host the usual in-person ELMACON event in 2021 due to COVID 19. However! We will be hosting a number of preparation style events to allow students to keep their math skills sharp! The preparation sessions will take place online (via zoom) and last for two hours. The sessions are free to attend but please complete the registration form below to allow us to plan the event. You will receive connection details prior to each event.
At each session, ELMACON instructors will go through useful mathematical techniques and will use questions from past exams will be used to teach techniques useful for the competition. The sessions are open to anyone and will give students a taste of what the competition will be like.
Session 1: Saturday March 13th 10am-12pm
The instructors focused on the following skills
- Problem Solving
- Divisibility
- Prime numbers and factorization (Dr Keshet's lecture notes)
Session 2: Saturday April 17th 10am-12pm
The instructors for this session will focus on the following areas:
- Binary numbers
- Area mazes
- Cartesian coordinates
- Clock algebra
- Dr Keshet's Lecture Notes
